Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid Models

The Kia Sportage now comes in hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Heavy on the “power.” The Kia Sportage hybrid brings 227 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque to the road in Lafayette. And while you may not win too many races with that setup, you’ll have no problem merging onto the highway or bypassing slower vehicles.

The Plug-in Hybrid model offers a few more ponies at 261 and equals the same torque output as the hybrid version. The plug-in Hybrid also offers an EPA-estimated 84 MPGe combined, while the Hybrid’s output is an EPA-estimated 38-43 MPG combined. The gas model delivers an EPA-estimated 28 MPG on the highway. So, if you’re looking for efficiency, you can’t go wrong with either model.
